Mohammed Siraj looks to wreak havoc in Colombo yet again

Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj's rich form against Sri Lanka continued as he dismissed in-form opening batter Pathum Nissanka for a golden duck in the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series. Nissanka scored a fifty in the series opener, but could not open his account in the ongoing clash at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, August 4.

Nissanka opened the innings with Avishka Fernando after Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. Siraj, who has taken 20 wickets in eight ODIs against Sri Lanka, took the new ball to guide India to a positive start after the tied first ODI.

Siraj hit the right spot on the length with his very first delivery and the hint of movement away from the right-hander after pitching did the trick. Nissanka could not resist a poke, but it came at the cost of an outside edge.

KL Rahul, who was standing a bit closer than usual because of the surface's low bounce, took an excellent low catch to ensure India's bright start. Have a look at the dismissal here:

Siraj was on the money for the remainder of the over as well, and finished with a wicket maiden to set the tempo for India.

Pathum Nissanka has scored two fifties in the white-ball series against India

The opening batter has been in a rich vein of form following a prolific 2024 Lanka Premier League (LPL) season. He scored a brilliant 79 in the first T20I against India recently and was among the runs for the rest of the series as well.

His wicket off Siraj marked the first time that he was dismissed by a pacer in the two white-ball series so far. Nissanka was dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel in the T20I series, while Washington Sundar trapped him LBW in the first ODI.

Siraj has now dismissed Nissanka twice in four outings, with the first one coming during the 2023 Asia Cup final.
