Southern Super Stars opener Martin Guptill went on a scoring spree, smashing 34 runs in an over off Navin Stewart in Legends League Cricket 2024 on Wednesday, October 2. The match against Konark Suryas Odisha was played at Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat.

During the final over of the batting powerplay, the New Zealand cricketer launched a six to deep mid-wicket, followed by another over deep square leg. He completed his hat-trick of sixes with a powerful shot over sweeper cover. The fourth delivery resulted in a four, and the right-hander capped it off with two more sixes off the last two balls.

The 38-year-old kept going, bringing up his century in just 48 balls. Guptill continued to attack Navin in his second over, hitting four sixes and one four, as the West Indies pacer leaked 63 runs in two overs.

Chasing a target of 193, Guptill remained not out on 131 off 54 balls, striking nine fours and 11 sixes for the Southern Super Stars. They won the match by seven wickets with four overs to spare.


Richard Levi helps Konark Suryas Odisha post decent total on the board

South Africa opener Richard Levi was the standout performer for Konark Suryas Odisha before Martin Guptill wreaked havoc in the second innings.

After being invited to bat first, Odisha's openers Levi and Jesse Ryder put up a partnership of 76 runs off just 30 balls. Levi scored an explosive 63 off 21 balls, hitting nine fours and four sixes, while Ryder managed a run-a-ball 18.

Yusuf Pathan added a quick 33 runs off 22 balls, including two fours and three sixes. Later in the innings, Vinay Kumar chipped in with 18 runs, helping Odisha reach a total of 192 for nine in their 20 overs. Suboth Bhati was the pick of the bowlers for the Southern Super Stars, taking three wickets.
