Southern Super Stars opener Martin Guptill unleashed an explosive performance, hitting four consecutive sixes off Manipal Tigers bowler Daniel Christian. His knock came in match number 11 of the Legends League Cricket 2024 on Tuesday, October 1. The game was played at Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat.

The former New Zealand cricketer Martin Guptill launched an explosive assault in the ninth over of the Southern Super Stars' innings. He smashed the first ball for a six over mid-wicket and followed it with another maximum to fine-leg.

The right-handed batter then launched a clean hit over deep mid-wicket before sending a colossal six to long-on that broke a window in the commentary box. Guptill added a boundary off the fifth ball and took two runs off the last, resulting in Daniel Christian conceding a staggering 30 runs in that over.

Guptill finished with 68 runs from 29 balls, smashing eight fours and four sixes before being dismissed by Harbhajan Singh.


Martin Guptill’s heroics help Southern Super Stars put a massive total on the board

Manipal Tigers captain Harbhajan Singh won the toss and decided to bowl first after the match was reduced to 15 overs due to a wet outfield. Martin Guptill and Southern Super Stars captain Shreevats Goswami built a solid opening partnership of 41 runs. The latter was then dismissed for 18 off 11 balls by Rahul Shukla.

Hamilton Masakadza had a disappointing outing, scoring just one run off four balls. Guptill then partnered with Chaturanga de Silva for a remarkable 72-run stand for the third wicket. Silva contributed 26 runs off 13 balls while Guptill blasted 68 runs off 29 balls.

Chirag Gandhi added a valuable 36 runs off 17 balls. Elton Chigumbura finished strong with an unbeaten 20 runs off seven balls, leading the Super Stars to a total of 194/7 in their allotted 15 overs. Harbhajan Singh stood out for the Manipal Tigers, claiming three wickets.
