[Watch] Mark Wood removes Kevin Sinclair with an absolute brute of a bouncer on Day 4 of ENG vs WI 2nd Test

England speedster Mark Wood dismissed West Indies batter Kevin Sinclair with a near unplayable bouncer on Day 4 of the second Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Sunday, July 21. Sinclair was dismissed for 1 off 17 balls.

Hosts England resumed Day 4 of the Test match at 248-3. They went on to post 425 as overnight batters Joe Root (122) and Harry Brook (109) scored wonderful hundreds. Set to chase a highly challenging target of 385 to win the Test match, West Indies crumbled to 91-6.

Sinclair was the sixth man to be dismissed in the 24th over of the West Indies chase. Wood got one to rise awkwardly at the right-handed batter's body. Sinclair made the mistake of taking his eyes off the ball and instead placing his hand in front of his face. The bouncer struck the wristband of his glove and popped up for a simple catch to Zak Crawley at second slip.

The West Indies batter went for the review, but the on-field decision stayed as reviews proved he had gloved the ball.

Earlier, West Indies got off to a defiant start in their second innings as their openers added 61 in 13.1 overs. The stand was broken first ball after drinks as Mikyle Louis (17) was caught behind off Chris Woakes. Kirk McKenzie (1) then nicked a shortish delivery from Shoaib Bashir to the keeper. West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite (47) was the next to go, also caught behind off Woakes.

Kavem Hodge, who scored a century in the first innings, was dismissed for the duck in the second, trapped lbw by Bashir. 20-year-old off-spinner Bashir had his third when he foxed Alick Athanaze (1) with a dip and turn and had him caught at slip. At the time of writing, the West Indies were reeling at 113-6 after 31 overs.

Mark Wood has bowled with searing pace in 2nd ENG vs WI Test

In the first innings, England pacer Wood sent down the fastest over bowled by an Englishman on home soil [as per data available]. The right-arm pacer bowler consistently clocked over 90 mph in his first over, with his fastest being 96.5 mph.

During the same innings, he stunned Louis with a 97.1 mph short ball, which the batter somehow managed to get out of the way of. Hodge, who scored a first-innings ton, joked and told Wood that he has a wife and kids, which face the music out in the middle. The latter has had an injury-prone career, but whenever fit, he has impressed with his speed and accuracy.
