England opener Maia Bouchier clinched victory for her team against Scotland by striking a boundary in the 17th match of the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup. The game was held on Sunday, October 13, at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE.

On the final delivery of the 10th over bowled by Kathryn Bryce, Bouchier deftly shuffled across and hit a full ball, sending it over backward square leg for a boundary. This shot secured England's victory by 10 wickets with 60 balls to spare, placing them at the top of Group B with three wins from as many matches.

Chasing a target of 110, England openers Maia Bouchier and Danielle Wyatt-Hodge put on an explosive display, combining for an unbroken partnership of 113 runs off just 60 balls. The former finished with an impressive 62* off 34 deliveries, featuring 12 boundaries, earning her the Player of the Match award.

Meanwhile, Wyatt-Hodge contributed with 51* off 26 balls, hitting seven fours as England secured a comfortable victory. Heather Knight’s side will face West Indies in their last group-stage match.

In contrast, Scotland struggled throughout the tournament, losing all four of their matches.


Sophie Ecclestone shines with the ball for England

Scotland won the toss and chose to bat first. The opening duo of Saskia Horley and Sarah Bryce added 38 runs for the first wicket off 48 balls. The former had a tough time at the crease, managing only 13 runs from 23 balls, while Bryce contributed 27 runs off 31 balls, including three boundaries.

Captain Kathryn Bryce added a solid 33 runs off 28 balls with four fours, but the middle order faltered, with Ailsa Lister scoring 11 off 14 balls and Lorna Jack-Brown going for a duck off three balls. Scotland ended their innings at 109/6 in 20 overs.

Sophie Ecclestone shone for England, claiming two wickets while conceding just 13 runs in her four-over spell.
