Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja helped the hosts see the back of Litton Das at Chepauk on Day 2 (Friday, September 20) of the Test between India and Bangladesh. Jadeja picked up his first wicket of the match with that scalp.

Litton Das walked out to bat at the fall of Mushfiqur Rahim's wicket. Carrying his form from his previous series against Pakistan, he took on the likes of Jasprit Burmah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep, accounting for a few boundaries.

With spin coming on, Das was beaten on a couple of occasions. He lost his patience and went after Jadeja, playing a big sweep on the second ball of the 29th over. The ball took the top edge and Dhruv Jurel, in for Bumrah on the field, held onto it nicely to see the back of the Bangladesh wicketkeeper.

Take a look at his dismissal below:

Litton Das departed after scoring 22 off 42 balls. His dismissal brought Mehidy Hasan Miraz to the middle.

Team India on top against Bangladesh on Day 2 of IND vs BAN 2024 1st Test

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Bangladesh made early in-roads on Day 1, reducing Team India to 34/3. Big names in Rohit Sharma (6 off 19), Shubman Gill (0 off 8) and Virat Kohli (6 off 6) were dismissed cheaply. Ravichandran Ashwin (113 off 133) stood tall amidst the chaos, scoring a century while Ravindra Jadeja (86 off 124) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (56 off 118) chipped in with contributions as Team India ended their batting essay with 376 on board.

Bangladesh had a torrid start as they lost Shadman Islam early. Akash Deep struck twice, dismissing Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim were dismissed cheaply but Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan stood their ground and stitched together a 50-run partnership, which was later broken by Jadeja by dismissing Litton Das. Shakib would then succumb to Jadeja by playing a poor reverse sweep and getting caught by Rishabh Pant for 32 runs.

Bangladesh go into Tea on Day 2 on 112/8 after 36.5 overs, losing Mahmud Hasan off the last ball. They trail by 264 runs and need 65 of them to avoid follow-on.
