West Indies batter Kavem Hodge was dismissed on 13 on the first day of the third Test match between England and West Indies on Friday, July 26 at Birmingham. The 31-year-old walked out to the middle, with the visitors finding themselves in a pickle.

West Indies had lost their third wicket before the end of the opening session, with Hodge striding out to the middle. The right-hander showed great intent, connecting a few deliveries out of the middle of the bat and also getting a couple of boundaries under his belt before he misjudged a straight one from Chris Woakes, ultimately leading to his bails knocked off the grooves.

England already sealed the series with wins at Lords and Trent Bridge earlier this month and has an unassailable lead of 2-0. With pride to play for, West Indies decided to bat first in the last test match. They had an excellent first hour, where they didn't lose a wicket and batted with great resolve. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Mikyle Louis stitched a 76-run opening stand before Gus Atkinson dismissed the latter.

This opened up a passage of play which then would benefit England. They went to pick two more wickets towards the end of the first session, leaving the visitors reeling on 97/3 after 26 overs.

West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite looked to wage a lone war yet again as he scored a half-century. He looked in great touch, timing every ball nicely and finding boundaries at will. However, he played one down the legside to Jamie Smith, who held onto it nicely.

Kavem Hodge was the latest batter to be dismissed. At the moment, Jason Holder and Joshua da Silva are out in the middle. The duo have registered a 26-run partnership for the sixth wicket, with the score reading 141/5 after 42 overs.
