Jharkhand captain Ishan Kishan effected a lightning-quick run out from behind the stumps in his side's ongoing first-round fixture of the 2024 All India Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament against Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, August 17. The incident happened on the last ball of the 54th over bowled by the slow left-arm orthodox bowler Manishi during Madya Pradesh's second innings at the India Cements Limited Cricket Ground in Tirunelveli.

Wanting to take a quick single, Adheer Pratap Singh, who was on strike, came halfway down the pitch only to be sent back by a hesitant Aniket Verma. Unfortunately, Adheer Pratap fell well short of his crease as Ishan Kishan's quick work behind the stumps by collecting the ball was enough to run the batter out.

Aniket Verma went on to score a quickfire century for Madhya Pradesh in the second innings amassing 110 runs off just 109 balls which included six fours and seven sixes.

Earlier in the game, Madhya Pradesh skipper Akshat Raghuwanshi won the toss and opted to bat first in Tirunelveli. Powered by the half-centuries from Shubham S Kushwah and opener Arham Aquil, the team posted 225 runs in their first innings before being bowled out in 91.3 overs.

In response, Ishan Kishan announced his comeback to domestic cricket in some style, producing a blistering captain's knock for Jharkhand smashing 114 runs off just 107 runs, including five fours and ten sixes. Eventually, Jharkhand finished at 289 runs, giving them a much-needed 64-run first innings lead.

With Madhya Pradesh scoring 238 runs in the second innings, Jharkhand have been set up a target of 175 runs to win this game.

At stumps on Day 3 of the four-day encounter, Ishan Kishan's men are at 37-1 in 15 overs. They need just 138 more runs on the final day to win their opening clash of the 2024 All India Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament.
