Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah ended the nagging partnership for the ninth-wicket between Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz in a dominant fashion. The pacer pulled out the yorker from his arsenal to end Taskin's stay at the crease in the final session of Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Bumrah had made a breakthrough to end the second session with Hasan Mahmud's dismissal. After Tea, the pair of Mehidy and Taskin negotiated the early part of the session, but their budding stand came to an end in the 43rd over. |

After Taskin successfully dealt with Bumrah, even scoring a boundary off his previous over, the pacer unleashed a barrage of short deliveries before unleashing the yorker while coming around the wicket.

The left-handed batter was caught by surprise, and was unable to deal with the delivery as it hit the base of the stumps to hand India their ninth breakthrough.

Following the dismissal, Bangladesh's score read 130-9 after 42.3 overs, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz quickly running out of partners.

Bumrah finishes with 4-50 as Bangladesh skittle out for a paltry 149

Bumrah, returning after a lengthy break following the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph, began the day by casting Shadman Islam in the very first over. He then claimed the crucial wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim, before picking up wickets at either side of the final session.

India did not take long to wrap up Bangladesh's innings after Bumrah claimed the breakthrough in the final session. Mohammed Siraj picked up the final wicket to end the innings, which only lasted 47.1 overs.

Despite boasting a lead of over 200 runs, India have opted not to enforce the follow-on, and will bat again in the Test.

Bumrah has become a threat in home conditions more than ever with rank turners no longer being the norm. The pacer had a series for the ages when England toured India earlier this year. He played his first home Test three years after his debut and after making 16 appearances in the format.
