Ishan Kishan aims to make a comeback through the domestic circuit

Indian wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan returned to domestic cricket in style by claiming a brilliant catch with the gloves in Jharkhand's clash against Madhya Pradesh in the Buchi Babu Invitational tournament in Tirunelveli. Kishan is leading the state team after a brief absence, during which he lost his place in the BCCI central contract list as well.

Kishan had declined to play in the latter stages of the previous domestic campaign, which prevented his comeback into the national side. The BCCI wanted players who weren't involved with the national team to partake in the domestic circuit, but the left-handed batter chose to commence with his preparation for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

The Buchi Babu tournament marks the first step in his potential return to the national side. He has also been named in Team D of the upcoming 2024 Duleep Trophy, where he will play under Shreyas Iyer.

In the 74th over on Day 1, Madhya Pradesh left-handed batter Shubham Kushwah was taken aback by the extra bounce from off-spinner Aditya Singh. The batter tried to cut the ball away but only managed an edge.

The pace and bounce on the delivery made it difficult to grab and the ball initially bounced out of Kishan's gloves. However, he made an excellent recovery, took a few steps and claimed the catch on the second attempt. Have a look at the catch right here:

The dismissal reduced Madhya Pradesh to 189-6 towards the final hour of play on Day 1.

Ishan Kishan took three catches in total on Day 1

The first day of the Buchi Babu tournament proved to be a productive outing for Ishan Kishan as skipper and wicket-keeper. Jharkhand ended the day on top after reducing Madhya Pradesh to 224-8 after 90 overs of play.

Apart from the sharp take to send back the top-scorer Shubham Kushwah, the wicket-keeper also took two catches to dismiss Chanchal Rathore and Ramveer Gurjar off Vivekanand Tiwary's bowling.
