Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud bagged his fifer by dismissing Jasprit Bumrah on Day 2 of the opening Test against India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The speedster was stranded on four wickets on Day 1 following a marathon partnership between Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

Bumrah was caught behind by Zakir Hasan at the third slip as Hasan finished with figures of 5/83 in his 22.2 overs. This was his second fifer in only the fourth Test.

Earlier on Day 1, Mahmud had put India on the backfoot by dismissing India captain Rohit Sharma (6 off 19), Shubman Gill (duck), Virat Kohli (run-a-ball 6) and Rishabh Pant (39 off 52).

Mahmud has become the fifth pacer to bag a fifer against India after Naimur Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Shaahadot Hossain in Test cricket.

Naimur, however, has the best figures with 6/132, which came against India at Dhaka in November 2000.
