Hardik Pandya likely to be retained by Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2025 auction - Reports

Hardik Pandya rejoined Mumbai Indians (MI) after being traded from Gujarat Titans (GT) in an all-cash deal ahead of the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was subsequently appointed as the team's new captain, taking over the reins from Rohit Sharma.

The season proved to be tumultuous for Hardik as he received a widespread backlash for replacing Sharma as the MI skipper. To make matters worse, the five-time champions finished with the wooden spoon, claiming just four wins from 14 outings.

However, despite the dismal campaign, the Mumbai-based franchise is reportedly set to retain Hardik prior to the IPL 2025 mega auction. According to a report by The Indian Express, MI are likely to retain four players - Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav.

The aforementioned report also suggests that Mumbai will look to use the Right to Match (RTM) option for swashbuckling Australian batter Tim David and will also try and rope in keeper-batter Ishan Kishan at the auction.
