Montreal Tigers opener Dilpreet Bajwa hammered Brampton Wolves pacer Andrew Tye for 28 runs in match number nine of GT20 Canada 2024 at the CAA Centre in Brampton on Tuesday, July 30. Bajwa remained unbeaten on a brilliant 100 off 55 balls as Montreal Tigers defeated Brampton Wolves by 42 runs.

Montreal Tigers won the toss and elected to bat first in the GT20 Canada 2024 clash. The Tigers posted 167-7 in their 20 overs. Out of the team total, 100 runs came off opener Bajwa's bat. The right-handed batter smacked 10 fours and six sixes during his 87-minute stay at the crease, scoring at a strike rate of 181.81.

In the penultimate over of Montreal Tigers' innings, the 21-year-old launched a stunning assault on Australian pacer Tye. He slammed the Brampton Wolves medium pacer for 28 runs, striking two sixes and four fours.

The first ball of the over was scooped for a six, while the second was launched on the leg side for four. The third and fourth deliveries [full toss] were hammered over the off-side for six and four, respectively. The fifth ball was shorter and was miscued behind the wickets for four. The last ball was again a full toss and was again slapped over the off-side for a boundary.

While Bajwa smacked 100 in super quick time, the next highest score in the innings was 18 off 19 balls by Parveen Kumar. Chasing 168, Brampton Wolves were bowled out for 124 in 18.5 overs as Azmatullah Omarzai claimed 4-21, while Kaleem Sana and Zahoor Khan picked up two wickets each. For the batting side, George Munsey top-scored with 54 off 34, while Kobe Herft hit 22 off 30.

Bajwa is a right-handed batter and an off-spin bowler. He has so far featured in one-day and six T20Is for Canada, scoring 19 and 110 runs, respectively. The 21-year-old has one half-century in the T20I format, his best of 52, which came off 41 balls against the United States of America in Prairie View in April 2024.

Before the game against Brampton Wolves, the Montreal Tigers batter scored 41* off 33 against Bangla Tigers Mississauga and 33 off 22 against Vancouver Knights. Montreal Tigers are currently on top of the points table, with three wins out of three matches.
