[WATCH] Chris Gayle meets Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi

Former West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle met the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Tuesday, October 1. The elated 45-year-old Jamaican took to his official Instagram handle to share videos of the memorable occasion.

Hosting his Jamaican counterpart, Andrew Holness, PM Modi gifted him a cricket bat signed by the members of the Indian cricket team. In return, Holness presented Modi with a cricket bat signed by the legendary Chris Gayle who was also invited to the event. The primary focus of the meeting was to boost ties between the two nations in various aspects.

Gayle captioned his post:

'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle is undoubtedly one of the most loved overseas cricketers in India with a huge fan base. The southpaw, who featured in a whopping 103 Test matches, 301 ODIs and 79 T20Is for the West Indies, won two ICC Men's T20 World Cup titles with the Men in Maroon (2012, 2016).

In his illustrious cricketing career, Gayle featured for several teams across various T20 Leagues around the globe. He still holds the record for the most runs scored in T20s having amassed 14,562 runs in 463 matches. He also enjoyed immense success during his IPL journey scoring 4,965 runs in 142 appearances.

The two-time IPL orange cap holder's 175* off just 66 deliveries for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium against the now-defunct Pune Warriors India during the 2013 IPL remains the highest individual score in the 17-year history of the world's most popular T20 league.
