[Watch] Akash Deep smashes 2 consecutive sixes with Virat Kohli's bat, leaves Shakib Al Hasan clueless in IND vs BAN 2024 2nd Test

Indian quick Akash Deep surprised Bangladesh's veteran left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan by smashing two consecutive sixes against him during the ongoing Kanpur Test. After missing a big shot on the first ball he faced, Deep connected with the next two deliveries, depositing them outside the boundary line.

Shakib Al Hasan delivered a tossed-up ball to Akash Deep first up, which he sent flying over the straight boundary. Next, Shakib bowled a quicker delivery at the stumps, but Deep charged down the track and slammed it over cow corner for another maximum.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had big smiles in the dressing room as Shakib Al Hasan was left clueless in the middle. You can watch the video here:

Before the Test series, Akash Deep disclosed in a chat with Times of India that Virat Kohli came to him and offered him a bat. Deep took it from him, and in the Kanpur Test, he smashed two sixes using the same bat.

Akash Deep's twin maximums helped India gain a lead of more than 50 runs in the 1st innings

When Akash Deep walked out to bat in the first innings, India had built up a lead of 39 runs. His fantastic cameo of 12 off five balls before Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed him helped India cross the 50-run lead mark.

Deep was dismissed trying for another maximum but he ended up giving a simple catch to Khaled Ahmed at long-on. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma then decided to declare the first innings at 285/9 with a lead of 52 runs.
