England spinner Adil Rashid outsmarted Australian explosive batter Glenn Maxwell in the second ODI of the five-match series on Saturday, September 21, at Headingley in Leeds. The dismissal occurred on the second ball of the 28th over when Rashid delivered a full ball on off stump.

Maxwell attempted a slog sweep but mistimed it, resulting in an easy catch for Jacob Bethell in the deep mid-wicket region. With this wicket, Rashid reached 200 ODI wickets in just 131 innings, making him the third-fastest spinner to achieve this milestone, following Saqlain Mushtaq (101 innings) and Shane Warne (124 innings).

Here’s a video of the dismissal:

Maxwell didn’t have the best outing, scoring seven runs off five balls, including one six. His dismissal left Australia at 161/6 after 27.2 overs.

Captain Mitchell Marsh played steadily, continuing to score from one end. Marnus Labuschagne was the next to go, dismissed for 19. Marsh made a solid contribution, scoring 60 runs off 59 balls, with six boundaries and three sixes, before Jacob Bethell got him out.

At this point, the visitors had lost half their wickets for 151 runs within 27 overs. Glenn Maxwell fell to Adil Rashid for just seven runs, and Carse then claimed two quick wickets in the 36th over, removing Aaron Hardie and Mitchell Starc in consecutive deliveries.
