India A pacer Aaqib Khan made an early impact by dismissing India C batter Rajat Patidar on Day 2 of their 2024 Duleep Trophy match on Friday, September 20. The game is being played at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur.

The dismissal occurred on the second ball of the eighth over. The right-arm pacer delivered a length ball outside off, which came back in as Patidar was caught on the back foot. The ball stayed a bit low, slipping under his bat to hit the stumps and sending the off stump for a walk. Patidar was dismissed for a golden duck.

Earlier in the over, Aaqib Khan got rid of India C captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for 17 off 20 balls. At the time of writing, India C was 39/3 after 13 overs, with Sai Sudharsan (16) and Baba Indrajith (0) at the crease.


A brilliant knock from Shashwat Rawat helped India A post a respectable first-innings total

India C won the toss and opted to bowl first. Anshul Kamboj made a strong impact by dismissing India A openers Pratham Singh (6) and Mayank Agarwal (6) early on. Soon after, the last match’s centurion Tilak Varma was run out for just 5 off 32 balls.

Riyan Parag's struggles continued as he was out for 2 off nine balls, dismissed by Vijaykumar Vyshak. India A found themselves in trouble, losing half their wickets for just 36 runs within 20 overs. However, Shashwat Rawat and Shams Mulani formed a crucial partnership, adding 87 runs for the sixth wicket before Mulani was dismissed for 44.

Rawat went on to score a brilliant century, finishing with 124 runs off 250 balls, a knock laced with 15 boundaries. Towards the end of the innings, Avesh Khan remained unbeaten on 51, while Prasidh Krishna contributed 34 runs as India A was bowled out for 297 in their first innings. Vijaykumar Vyshak was the standout bowler for India C, claiming four wickets.
