Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed came up with a perfect reply to dismiss Kusal Mendis in the T20 World Cup game against Sri Lanka in Dallas on Saturday, June 8. The speedster dismissed Mendis, who chopped onto the stumps after smashing back-to-back boundaries, departing for 10 runs off eight balls.

The incident took place in the third over of Sri Lanka’s innings. Taskin bowled a back-of-a-length delivery around off and Mendis looked unsure whether to pull or defend. The right-handed batter ended up with an inside edge that pegged back onto the stumps. Taskin was delighted with the dismissal.

Taskin also dismissed Dasun Shanaka to finish with impressive figures of 2/25 in his four overs. The 29-year-old also looked brilliant in his last T20I series against Zimbabwe, picking up eight wickets in four matches.

On the contrary, Mendis had scored 19 off 30 in his previous game against South Africa.

Bangladesh restrict Sri Lanka to 124 in the T20 World Cup encounter

A clinical bowling display helped Bangladesh restrict Sri Lanka to 124/9 after skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and chose to bowl in the T20 World Cup fixture. Apart from Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain bagged three wickets apiece.

Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka starred with the bat, scoring 47 off 28 with the aid of a six and seven boundaries. Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, and Angelo Mathews chipped in with 21 (26), 19 (21), and 16 (19), respectively. The trio failed to take the team to a respectable total.

Bangladesh will play their next T20 World Cup match against South Africa in New York on Monday, June 10. On the other hand, Sri Lanka will lock horns with Nepal in Lauderhill, Florida the following day. The Wanindu Hasaranga-led side lost to the Proteas by six wickets in their opening game.
