On Thursday, June 13, Leicestershire and Durham met in the North Group match of the Vitality T20 Blast 2024 at Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street. In the day's opening clash between Middlesex and Essex, Middlesex won the toss and chose to field first. Essex's batting lineup put on a solid display with key contributions from Dean Elgar (28 off 17 balls), Michael Pepper (23 off 12 balls), and Jordan Cox (an unbeaten 31 off 19 balls).
Their collective efforts led Essex to a total of 129 runs in 12.4 overs before rain halted play. Noah Cornwell took two wickets for Middlesex while Luke Hollman and Ryan Higgins picked up one each.
Following the rain interruption, the match resumed with a revised target of 80 runs to be chased in six overs by Middlesex. Despite a valiant effort from Max Holden, who remained unbeaten with a score of 41 off 24 balls, Middlesex fell short, managing only 63 runs for the loss of two wickets. Paul Walter secured the two wickets for Essex, conceding 16 runs in two overs.
In the other match scheduled for Thursday, Glamorgan was set to face Hampshire, but persistent rain led to the abandonment of the game without a ball being bowled.

Jamie Smith (211) and Daniel Hughes (177) hold the top two spots in the most runs list with impressive averages of 52.75 and 44.25, respectively. Following closely, Leicestershire’s Rishi Patel ranks third with 174 runs to his name.
Tom Abell retained his fourth position, scoring 167 runs in four innings, averaging 55.66. Meanwhile, Michael Pepper of Essex moved to the fifth rank after scoring 23 runs in the previous game.

Ben Green from Somerset tops the wicket-taking chart with 13 wickets in five matches. Following him are Mason Crane, Tymal Mills, and Pat Brown, who have claimed 10 wickets each, holding the second, third, and fourth spots respectively.
Similarly, Tom Curran, David Payne, and Riley Meredith, with nine wickets each, are placed in fifth, sixth, and seventh positions.
Paul Walter of Essex grabbed the eighth position with nine wickets, taking two in the last game. Ben Raine and Hasan Ali, also with nine wickets each, round out the top ten.
