On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, Leicestershire and Durham met in the North Group match of the Vitality T20 Blast 2024 at Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street.
Durham decided to field first and successfully limited Leicestershire to a modest score of 140/8. Opening batter Rishi Patel produced a solid 48-run innings, which included six fours and one maximum. Supporting him, Rehan Ahmed chipped in with 20 runs, and captain Peter Handscomb added 26, as they collectively pushed the total up by 46 runs.
Leading Durham’s bowling unit, Matthew Potts claimed three wickets, while Ben Raine added two more to his tally with Callum Parkinson and Nathan Sowter taking one apiece.
In reply, Durham struggled against Leicestershire's bowlers and could only manage 130 for eight. Graham Clark was the standout performer with 53 runs, and Ashton Turner followed with 49. However, the rest of the batting lineup faltered, each being dismissed for single-digit scores.
For Leicestershire, Wiaan Mulder was most effective with the ball, taking two wickets. Except for Rehan Ahmed, who went wicketless, the rest of the bowling attack each contributed with a wicket.

Jamie Smith, with two half-centuries in four games, continues to lead the most runs leaderboard, amassing 211 runs with a strike rate exceeding 200.
Daniel Hughes holds the second position, maintaining an average of 44.25 and scoring 177 runs in four matches with a strike rate over 160.
Rishi Patel of Leicestershire climbed to third place after delivering back-to-back 48-run knocks.
Tom Abell and Luke Wells follow him, having accumulated 167 and 160 runs, respectively, placing them fourth and fifth on the list of top run-scorers.

Ben Green from Somerset leads the wicket-taking chart with 13 wickets in five matches. Following him, Mason Crane, Tymal Mills, and Pat Brown each have taken 10 wickets, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
Tom Curran, David Payne, and Riley Meredith are close behind with nine wickets each, ranking fifth, sixth, and seventh.
Ben Raine of Durham moved up to the eighth spot, also with nine wickets, after claiming two in his last match. Hasan Ali and Olly Stone complete the top 10, each with nine wickets as well.
