On Wednesday, July 10, Sussex defeated Hampshire in the 90th match of the Vitality T20 Blast 2024 at the County Ground in Hove. Warwickshire is currently at the top of the North Group points table, having won eight out of their 10 games. Lancashire are second on the table with six wins and three losses in 10 games.

Northamptonshire and Durham take the next two spots with five wins in 10 games. However, Northampton has 12 points in their account while Durham has 11.

Leicestershire and Derbyshire occupy the following two positions with 10 points each. However, with four wins and one draw in 10 games, Leicester has a net run rate of 0.700 while with five wins, Derbyshire has an NRR of 0.345.

Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, and Worcestershire retained the seventh, eighth, and ninth spots with eight, six, and four points, respectively.

Surrey are currently the table toppers, winning seven games and tying one, with 16 points in their account. Sussex retained their second position after a 22-run victory over Hampshire. They have seven wins and three losses in their account.

Somerset, Essex, and Gloucestershire retained the following three positions with 11 points each.

Glamorgan is ranked sixth with four wins and five losses while Hampshire and Kent hold the next two spots with just two and three wins in 10 games, respectively.

James Coles' all-round display propells Sussex to seventh victory

Sussex batted first and lost their openers within the first five overs. Nonetheless, Tom Clark (37) and James Coles (46) stitched a resilient 83-run partnership. Tom Alsop chipped in with 35 runs, Danny Lamb added 22 and Nathan McAndrew scored a swift 13 runs off seven balls, including two boundaries.

Brad Wheal and James Fuller each secured two wickets for Hampshire, while Chris Wood and Liam Dawson claimed one apiece.

In reply, Sussex managed to dismiss Hampshire openers Ben McDermott and Tom Prest during the powerplay. Despite a 59-run stand between Joe Weatherley (34) and captain James Vince (32), the rest of the lineup faltered.

The match concluded in 19.1 overs, with Hampshire bowled out for 178. James Coles was the standout bowler, taking four wickets, while Tymal Mills, Danny Lamb, and Jack Carson each claimed a wicket.
