The Vitality T20 Blast witnessed a double-header involving Middlesex-Glamorgan and Worcestershire-Nottinghamshire on Thursday, June 6.

Lancashire Lightning sit atop the standings, winning three out of four games. Northamptonshire are placed just below Lancashire with a similar record but a slightly lower net run rate of +0.497 as compared to +2.069.

With two wins and one loss each, Yorkshire retained their third position while Warwickshire moved from second to the fourth spot.

Derbyshire and Worcestershire have won two out of four games and occupy the fifth and sixth positions, respectively, while Leicestershire and Durham have won and hold the following two spots, respectively.

Nottinghamshire are languishing at the bottom of the table with four losses in as many games.

In the South Group, Surrey are ranked first despite their loss to Sussex. Kent and Hampshire climbed from third and fifth spots to second and third, respectively. Similarly, Sussex jumped from seventh to fourth spot.

With two wins out of four games, Glamorgan descended to the fifth spot while Essex reclaimed their sixth position. Similarly, while Gloucestershire slipped from fourth to seventh, Somerset retained their eighth position with one win in three games.

Middlesex are the underdogs with three losses in three matches.

Lancashire shine with third win in North Group; Surrey dominate South despite a setback

Somerset defeated Kent in the first game of the day. Somerset posted 197 for six wickets courtesy of Will Smeed’s 68 and Tom Kohler-Cadmore’s 42 off 30. However, Kent achieved the target with a match-winning century from Sam Billings (106 off 58).

Gloucestershire lost their third game against Hampshire on Friday, June 7, by five wickets. Hampshire successfully chased down 125 runs in 16.5 overs, thanks to Toby Albert’s unbeaten 41 backed by James Fuller’s 27 off 24 and Joe Weatherley’s 24 off 25.

Sussex had set a huge 214-run target with major run contributions from Tom Alsop 68 (35), Daniel Hughes 65 (43), and Nathan McAndrew 29* (15). However, despite Ollie Pope’s unbeaten 99 off 59, Surrey fell short of the target by 36 runs.

Lancashire registered their third victory over Warwickshire in the last game by defending 177 runs. Luke Wood and Luke Wells took two wickets each for Lancashire, while Mitchell Stanley and Saqib Mahmood picked one.

Leicestershire suffered a seven-wicket loss against Durham as they chased 177 runs in 19.3 overs. Ben Cox scored a fifty for Leicestershire. Alex Lees scored an unbeaten 71 off 53 for Durham while Nathan Sowter claimed three wickets.

Essex secured their second triumph against Glamorgan after reaching the 167-run target in 18.4 overs. Colin Ingram top-scored for Glamorgan while Mason Crane chipped in four wickets. Adam Rossington scored 48 while Daniel Sams and Paul Walter picked up a three-wicket haul each for Essex.

Derbyshire also grabbed their second win in four games. With Wayne Madsen’s 53, Ross Whiteley’s 46, and Brooke Guests’ 32*, they put up a target of 199 runs. However, A combined effort from Daryn Dupavillon, Pat Brown, and Whiteley, each taking three wickets, bowled Nottinghamshire out in 16.4 overs.

Northamptonshire defeated Worcestershire by six runs in the last game of the day. Saif Zaib was named the Player of the Match for scoring 44* off 21 and taking a three-wicket haul.
