Middlesex and Essex faced off in the first match of the day, with the former winning the toss and opting to bowl.
Essex, led by contributions from Adam Rossington (20 off 14), Dean Elgar (28 off 17), Michael Pepper (23 off 12), Jordan Cox (unbeaten 31 off 19), and Paul Walter (18 off 14), posted 129 runs in 12.4 overs before rain interrupted play.
In the second half, the match was shortened to six overs, with Middlesex needing 80 runs as per the DLS method. Despite Max Holden's unbeaten 41 off 24 balls, Middlesex managed only 63 runs for two wickets, falling 16 runs short and losing the match.
