The league stage of the Vitality T20 Blast 2024 season came to a conclusion with eight matches being played on Friday, July 19.

In the first match of the day in Derby, Durham chased down Derbyshire’s 155/8 with eight wickets and seven balls to spare. Opening batter Alex Lees charted 72* in the chase to headline Durham's win alongside bowlers Nathan Sowter and Ben Raine.

In Leeds, Nottinghamshire routed Yorkshire by 28 runs after amassing 209/9 courtesy of a 21-ball half-century from Jack Haynes. Calvin Harrison and Luke Fletcher played starring roles with the ball for Nottinghamshire in their big win.

In the South Group battle between Kent and Surrey at Canterbury, the former prevailed by an 86-run margin off the back of half-centuries from Tawanda Muyeye and Daniel Bell-Drummond and three-wicket hauls from Jaskaran Singh and Matthew Parkinson. At the Rose Bowl, Hampshire floored Essex by seven runs, largely owing to Ben McDermott’s 48-ball 64 and John Turner’s four-fer.

Sussex romped to an easy nine-wicket win over Middlesex in Hove after Ollie Robinson’s scintillating three-wicket haul. Chasing 160, Sussex opener Daniel Hughes clubbed 96* from 54 balls to take his team home in the 17th over. In Birmingham, Warwickshire plummeted Leicestershire by 72 runs after Moeen Ali launched nine sixes in his 103-run knock and Danny Briggs’ (3/30) bowling spectacle.

In the final South Group match of the day, Kiran Carlson’s 64-ball 135 charged up Glamorgan to 243/3 off 20 overs. In response, Marnus Labuschagne claimed figures of 5/11 to orchestrate Glamorgan’s 120-run win over Somerset. In a high-scoring North Group thriller in Manchester, Matthew Breetzke (76 off 31 balls) helped Northamptonshire chase down Lancashire’s 201-run total in the penultimate over.

Daniel Hughes finished the league stage of the Vitality T20 Blast 2024 season as its highest run-maker after crashing Middlesex with a 96*-run knock. Sitting on a pile of 560 runs, he is followed by Sam Hain (554 runs) and Michael Pepper (535 runs) as the top-three most successful batters of the tournament so far.

Matthew Breetzke with 460 runs, Tom Banton with 440 runs and Dawid Malan with 420 runs find themselves placed at number four, five and six respectively on the list after the events of July 19.

Only two runs separate seventh-placed Rishi Patel and eighth-ranked Sam Billings, while Gloucestershire teammates Cameron Bancroft with 399 runs and Miles Hammond with 392 runs take the final two slots on the standings.

Danny Briggs picked up three scalps against Leicestershire to move to 27 wickets in the Vitality T20 Blast 2024 season. David Payne and Tymal Mills finished the league stage with 25 and 24 wickets respectively to be placed among the top three Blast bowlers of the year.

Luke Hollman and Matt Taylor take the fourth and fifth places with 23 wickets each. Derbyshire’s Pat Brown, with 22 wickets and Somerset’s Ben Green, with 21 wickets occupy the sixth and seventh positions respectively. Ben Raine, Scott Currie and Jordan Thompson, with 20 wickets each, take the final three slots to round up the top 10.
