Eight matches were played in the Vitality Blast 2024 on Friday, July 12. The chasing teams won four of the eight matches while the sides batting first won three. One match between Lancashire and Yorkshire was abandoned due to rain.

Warwickshire are still in first place in North Group, having won eight out of 11 matches. Lancashire are still in second position. Durham have jumped to third place from fifth, winning six out of 12 matches. Leicestershire have moved to fourth position from sixth and have won five out of 12 games.

Northamptonshire have slipped to fifth place from third and have won five out of 11 games. Derbyshire have moved to sixth position from fourth and have won five out of 11 matches. Yorkshire are still in seventh place and have won five out of 12 matches. Worcestershire are still in eighth position and have four wins to their name in 12 outings. Nottinghamshire are still in ninth place, winning two out of 11 games.

In the South Group, Surrey and Sussex still occupy the top two places. They have won seven and eight matches, respectively, and have 16 points each to their name. Somerset have moved to third position from fourth, while Essex have slipped to fourth place from third. Both teams have won six out of 11 matches each.

Gloucestershire are still in fifth place and have won five out of 12 matches. Hampshire have jumped to the sixth position from eighth and have registered three wins in 11 outings. Glamorgan have slipped to seventh place from sixth and have won four times in 11 matches.

Middlesex have moved to eighth position from seventh and Kent are still in ninth place. Both teams have won three matches each.


Leicestershire edge out win against Derbyshire; James Neesham stars

Durham defeated Nottinghamshire in the 96th match of Vitality Blast 2024 by 30 runs. They had scored 160 runs for the loss of six wickets. Ashton Turner remained unbeaten on 44 runs off 31 deliveries. Callum Parkinson shined with the ball, picking up three wickets for 15 runs in four overs.

In the 97th match, Leicestershire chased down the target of 184 runs in 19.1 overs with three wickets in hand. James Neesham scored 67 runs off 34 deliveries and was the highest scorer for Leicestershire.

The 98th match between Glamorgan and Middlesex was reduced to 10 overs per side due to rain. Luke Holllman’s four-wicket haul shaped the outcome of the match as Glamorgan scored 88 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Middlesex chased down the target in 9.3 overs and won by six wickets.

Half-centuries from John Simpson and Tom Alsop helped Sussex post 203 runs for the loss of four wickets against Kent, who were bundled out for 115 runs and lost the match by 88 runs.

Worcestershire and Warwickshire took on each other in the 100th match of the season and it was reduced to 17 overs due to rain. Worcestershire scored 187 runs for the loss of six wickets. Warwickshire could score only 132 runs despite Dan Mousley’s 68-run knock off 44 deliveries. Worcestershire won the match by 55 runs.

In the 101st match, Surrey scored 182 runs for the loss of five wickets. Rory Burns and Sam Curran scored a half-century each. Tom Kohler-Cadmore’s 51 runs off 32 deliveries helped Somerset reach the target of 183 runs in 19 overs with six wickets in hand.

The 102nd match between Lancashire and Yorkshire was abandoned due to rain. In the 103rd game, Gloucestershire posted 176 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Brad Wheal took four wickets for 35 runs in four overs. Hampshire lost their first four wickets for 75 runs. Benny Howell’s 62-run knock off 27 deliveries helped Hampshire reach the target on the last delivery of their innings.
