Former Indian spinner Amit Mishra made the headlines with his fiery comments about superstar batter Virat Kohli in a recent interview. The leg-spinner has played with and under Kohli for Team India in his international career that spanned almost a decade and a half until 2017.

Mishra feels Kohli changed with fame and power compared to other greats like Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar.

On a YouTube show with Shubhankar Mishra, Amit Mishra said:

"As a cricketer, I respect him a lot, but I don't share the same equation with him as I used to. Why does Virat have less friends? I have seen Virat change a lot. We had almost stopped talking. When you get fame and power, they think people are reaching out to them for a purpose. I was never one of those. I have known Cheeku since the time he was 14, when he used to eat Samosas, when he needed Pizza every night. But there is a huge difference in the Cheeku I knew and Virat Kohli the captain."

Mishra also had issues with Kohli's behavior and gestures during their spat that escalated to a confrontation between Kohli and Gautam Gambhir in the IPL 2023 clash between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Amit Mishra also had a go at KL Rahul and Shubman Gill

Things did not stop with only Virat Kohli as Amit Mishra made scathing remarks on KL Rahul and Shubman Gill.

The veteran spinner has played under Rahul in the LSG setup over the past three seasons but felt the franchise should look for a more team-oriented captain next season.

"It does not matter if he is in the Indian team or not. But a person who has the right mentality for T20s should be the captain. Someone who plays for the team should be captain. I am sure LSG will look for a better captain," said Mishra.

Mishra also feels Shubman Gill is not a captaincy material despite the youngster recently leading India to a 4-1 T20I series win in Zimbabwe.

"Mai Shubman ko captain nahi banaunga, kyonki maine usey IPL me dekha, he doesn't know ki captaincy kaise karna hai, uske paas captaincy ka idea hi nahi hai. (I would not have made him the captain. You saw the IPL this season, Gill doesn't know how to captain the side, he is clueless)," added Mishra.

Under Gill, the Gujarat Titans (GT) struggled for consistency in IPL 2024, finishing eighth with 12 points in 14 outings.
