The Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow hosted two UP T20 League 2024 matches on Friday, September 6. Meerut Mavericks and Lucknow Falcons registered emphatic victories on the day at the expense of Noida Super Kings and Kashi Rudras respectively.

Mavericks justified their table-topping tag this season with their latest win. They have so far accumulated 14 points courtesy of seven wins from eight matches. The Falcons retained their second spot on the points table by registering their fifth win of the season. The NRR of the Falcons currently stands at a formidable 0.479.

Gorakhpur Lions remained at number three on the six-team standings with four wins and as many defeats. The Rudras failed to advance from their fourth position after slumping to a nine-wicket larruping to Falcons.

Kanpur Superstars are ranked fifth on the table as they have secured just three wins from eight matches and are holding an NRR of -0.366. Noida Super Kings continue to remain at the bottom of the standings after losing to the season’s table-toppers.


Meerut Mavericks, Lucknow Falcons register big wins

In the first match of the day, Meerut Mavericks batted first and mounted 188/5 from 20 overs courtesy of a swift 45-ball 66 from brash young opener Swastik Chikara. Rituraj Sharma also smacked an unbeaten 45 during the slog overs of the innings.

Later in the game, bowlers Vijay Kumar (2/30) and Rajat Sanserwal (2/26) restricted the Noida Super Kings to just 170/8 to secure an 18-run win for the Meerut Mavericks.

In Match 25 of the competition, the entire Kashi Rudras batting line-up was bundled out for just 111 in 20 overs. Middle-order batter Prince Yadav top-scored with 33 of those runs from 35 deliveries, while Ghanshyam Upadhyay chipped in with 26. Falcons’ bowlers Abhinandan Singh (3/31) and S Kishan Kumar (3/11) dismantled the Rudras by snaring identical three-fers.

Chasing 112, Falcons opener Samarth Singh charted a fluent 55* from just 47 deliveries to steer his team to a huge nine-wicket win with more than six overs to spare.
