Trent Bridge to officially rename Pavilion End to Stuart Broad End ahead of 2nd ENG vs WI Test

Nottinghamshire v Essex - LV= Insurance County Championship
Stuart Broad has a special connection with Nottingham

Former England bowler Stuart Broad will have an end at Trent Bridge named in his honor following his retirement from international cricket last year. The pacer is one of the greatest cricketers from Nottingham to represent the nation. He has featured in 167 Tests and made contributions in the remaining formats as well.

The renaming will be official through a plaque unveiling ceremony before the first day's play of the second Test between England and West Indies. According to Trent Bridge's official website, the legendary bowler will be in attendance along with his father, former England cricketer Chris Broad.

"Ticket-holders for day one of the Trent Bridge Test are advised to take their seats by 10.40am as we officially rename the Pavilion End of our venue in honour of Stuart Broad," a statement read.

The Pavilion End was renamed to the Stuart Broad End in September 2023, a couple of months after his retirement. However, this marks the first Test at the venue since 2022, making it the apt occasion for Broad to unveil the plaque himself with all of his former teammates witnessing the moment.

"I'm delighted that the Nottinghamshire Committee decided that Stuart should be remembered in this way. To have an end named after him is a complete delight. It was quite surreal, the first time I visited Trent Bridge this year, to hear the announcement that the bowler was bowling from the Stuart Broad End," Chris Broad said in a statement released by trentbridge.co.uk
"I took a picture of the scoreboard and sent it to Stuart, and he was a little bit emotional seeing his name up there. I'm so proud and privileged to see him being given that honour," he added.

The second Test between England and the West Indies is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 18.

Stuart Broad's last appearance at the venue came during the home series against New Zealand, where he picked up five wickets in the match.
