The Top End T20 Series 2024 season went ahead with three matches across two different Darwin venues on Thursday, August 15. Bangladesh A, Perth Scorchers and Pakistan Shaheens registered emphatic victories on the exciting Darwin triple-header over Australian Capital Territory, Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades, respectively.

Northern Territory continue to top the Top End T20 Series 2024 points table with six points, courtesy of three wins from five matches. While Pakistan Shaheens and Melbourne Renegades have also accumulated six points so far, their NRR of 0.359 and -0.500 respectively places them below Northern Territory’s 0.582.

Bangladesh A and Australian Capital Territory take the fourth and fifth slots, respectively, on the nine-team standings with two wins each. Equaled with four points, teams like Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Stars, Tasmania and Perth Scorchers occupy the final four positions on the points table in that order on the basis on NRR.


Baxter Holt, Jahandad Khan reap Top End T20 spoils on August 15 triple-header

In the first match of the day at the TIO Stadium, Bangladesh A chased down Australian Capital Territory’s 124/9 with six wickets and 20 balls to spare. Opening batter Jishan Alam headlined the chase with a 36-ball half-century after fast bowler Ripon Mondol snapped three wickets during the Capital Territory innings.

At the Gardens Oval, Harry Manenti’s 22-ball 48* elevated Adelaide Strikes to a competitive 154/6 after a triple-wicket strike from Perth Scorchers paceman Bryce Jackson (3/36). In response, the Scorchers batters consumed just 18.1 overs to chase down their target at the expense of three wickets. Opening batter Baxter Holt produced the innings of the match through his unbeaten 79 (55 balls). Keaton Critchell also added 38 handy runs in a match-winning partnership with Holt.

Between Melbourne Renegades and Pakistan Shaheens at the TIO Stadium, the former were bundled out for just 107 in 18.3 overs. Each of the five Pakistan A bowlers utilized in the innings ended up picking wickets, with Jahandad Khan being the pick of them through figures of 3/19. Faisal Akram, Mohammad Imran and Arif Yaqoob also chipped in with two wickets each in the innings.

In response, Pakistan A survived Kane Richardson (2/25) and Harry Dixon (2/2) before overcoming their target with four wickets and two overs in hand.
