Tamania defeated Northern Territory by six wickets in the eighth fixture of the 2024 Top End T20 Series at the TIO Ground, Darwin.

Meanwhile, the Australian Capital Territory, in their very first encounter of the season, trumped the Perth Scorchers Academy by a healthy margin of 33 runs. Esam Rahman put together a brilliant all-round performance, scoring 47 runs batting first and taking 3/15 in the second innings to help his side get over the finish line.

Meanwhile, Tasmania registered a comprehensive five-wicket win over Bangladesh A in the third match of the day and 10th game of the season.

After the completion of 10 games this season, here’s how things stand in the 2024 Top End T20 Series as far as the points table is concerned:

The Northern Territory dominate the 2024 Top End T20 Series for now, having won two of their three encounters so far this campaign. They occupy the top spot with four points and a healthy net run rate of +0.818.

Tasmania, after winning both their games today, sit pretty in second place, having scored four points and a net run rate of +0.167.

A total of six teams have managed to score two points each at this stage of the competition, highlighting the fervent competitive nature of the participating sides. Bangladesh A (+1.818), Australia Capital Territory (+1.650), Melbourne Stars Academy (+0.752), Adelaide Strikers Academy (-0.275), Pakistan Shaheens (-0.750), and Melbourne Renegades Academy (-1.552) have all managed to score two points at this stage of the season, occupying the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth positions, respectively.

Perth Scorchers Academy, with three consecutive losses this season, languish at the bottom of the points table with zero points and an abysmal net run rate of -1.633.

Tasmania won the toss and elected to field first against the Bangladesh A side in the 10th match of the competition, as openers Tanzid Hasan (28 off 29) and Jishan Alam (38 off 23) gave Bangladesh A a much-needed headstart in the first innings. Hasan scored four boundaries while his opening partner Alam was a tad bit aggressive, scoring two boundaries and three towering maximums.

Batting at No. 3, Parvez Hossain Emon top-scored for the Bangladesh A side with a 29-ball 39*, helping his side post a first-innings total of 166/5 in 20 overs. Gabe Bell took 2/25 in four overs for Tasmania, while Kieran Elliott and Nivethan Radhakrishnan took one wicket apiece.

Chasing 167, Tasmania opener Nicholas Davis showed aggression upfront with two sixes and a four in his 23-ball, 30-run innings. But it was Jake Doran’s heroics (71* off 37) that helped Tasmania win this encounter against Bangladesh A with five wickets to spare. Doran scored his runs at a strike rate of 191.89 whilst hitting four fours and three sixes.

As for the Bangladesh bowlers, Rakibul Hasan took three wickets in his 3.3-over spell, while the likes of Al Islam, Abu Hider, and Mahfuzur Rahman scalped one wicket each.
