Trichy Grand Cholas pummel Siechem for huge NRR boost

After being invited to bat first, Trichy Grand Cholas lost opener Arjun Murthy for just a run in the opening over of the match itself to Gurjapneet Singh. His partner and wicketkeeper-batter Waseem Ahmed responded strongly with a flurry of boundaries in his unbeaten knock of 90 from just 55 balls. The cricketer launched seven boundaries and five sixes to top-score for his side and shared an unbroken 126-run partnership with half-centurion Sanjay Yadav.

Apart from Gurjapneet Singh, Siechem Madurai Panthers spinner Ramadoss Alexandar also picked up a wicket, albeit in an expensive two-over spell as Trichy Grand Cholas posted a colossal 193/2 from their 20 overs.

Chasing 194 for a win, the Siechem Madurai Panthers slumped to 57/3 at the end of the opening powerplay. Barring a 20-ball 39 from captain and opener Hari Nishanth, none of the Panthers batters managed to scale the 20-run mark in their daunting run-chase.

Sanjay Yadav, who bludgeoned 33-ball 60* with the bat, claimed three wickets with the ball to finish with figures of 3/28. His teammate R Rajkumar also reaped in the benefits of the Siechem Madurai Panthers' collapse to claim 3/9 from three overs. Their collective bowling efforts flattened the entire Siechem Madurai Panthers line-up for just 126 to secure a huge 67-run win for the Trichy Grand Cholas.
