Lyca Kovai Kings have jumped to the top of the points table after securing a dominant nine-wicket win over Nellai Royal Kings on Saturday. The Kovai Kings now have three wins in as many matches.

On the other hand, the Royal Kings suffered their first defeat of the season. They have slipped to second spot with two wins in three matches. Meanwhile, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans picked up their first win of the season after beating Siecham Madurai Panthers on Saturday.

The Tamizhans now find themselves at the sixth spot with one win in three games. On the other hand, the Panthers are now languishing at the bottom with a solitary win in three games. Salem Spartans are languishing at second from the bottom with a solitary win.

The third, fourth, and fifth spots are occupied by Trichy Grand Cholas, Dindigul Dragons, and Chepauk Super Gillies, respectively. All have picked up one win each so far in the tournament.


IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans pick up maiden win; Lyca Kovai Kings continue dominant run

IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans beat Siechem Madurai Panthers in the 10th match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2024 on Saturday. Siechem Madurai Panthers batted first and managed to score 156 runs in the first innings.

Sasidev was the top performer for them with the bat, amassing 41 runs off 19 deliveries. As for Tamizhans’ bowling, S Ajith Ram was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three for 35 runs in four overs. R Rohit also returned with two wickets.

IDream Tirrupur Tamizhans chased down the target in just 18.2 overs. Balchander Anirudh starred with the bat as he played a blistering knock of 52 off just 28 deliveries. Mohamed Ali guided the team home with an unbeaten 34-run knock.

Meanwhile, in the second match of the day, Lyca Kovai Kings took on Nellai Royal Kings at SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore.

Arun Karthik gave Nellai Royal Kings a solid start despite wickets falling at the other hand. He played a stellar knock of 47 off 38 balls. Sonu Yadav capitalized on that start in the second half of the innings. He took the team to a competitive score of 167 with an unbeaten 43-run knock in 26 balls.

As for the Kovai Kings, Shahrukh Khan (2 for 30) and M Mohammed (2 for 29) were the standout performers with the ball. In pursuit of the target, Sai Sudharsan got out cheaply for 8. However, J Suresh Kumar (63 off 55) and Balasubramaniam Sachin (76 off 48) joined hands and stitched together a match-winning partnership of 144 runs for the second wicket. Courtesy of those contributions, Kovai Kings chased down the target in just 18.3 overs.
