Dindigul Dragons defeated Siechem Madurai Panthers by 30 runs in match 24 of the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2024 season on Friday, July 26 in Dindigul.

The win marked Dindigul Dragons’ third in succession as they climbed to third place in the TNPL 2024 points table with an NRR of 0.333. Chepauk Super Gillies occupy the second spot on the eight-team ladder with eight points courtesy of four wins from six outings. Their NRR of 0.511 places them above Dindigul Dragons.

Lyca Kovai Kings continue to top the points table with five wins and just one defeat from six matches. Trichy Grand Cholas and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans both lost a rung each to slip to number four and number five respectively on the table. Nellai Royal Kings, with five points from six games, find themselves ranked sixth on the list.

Siechem Madurai Panthers failed to make any progress after losing out to Dindigul Dragons, as they are still positioned at number seven on the rankings. SKM Salem Spartans languish at the bottom of the table with just a solitary win from six matches.


Shivam Singh pounds Siechem Madurai Panthers with a match-winning ton

Opening the innings for Dindigul Dragons, Shivam Singh bashed an unbeaten 106 from just 57 deliveries with six boundaries and 10 sixes. The cricketer batted throughout the Dragons innings and top-scored in their 201-run total upfront.

Among the Siechem Madurai Panthers bowlers, Karthick Manikandan picked up two wickets in the high-scoring innings. Meanwhile, Gurjapneet Singh, R Mithun, and Murugan Ashwin also chipped in with a wicket each.

In response, Siechem Madurai Panthers managed to make just 171/8 from 20 overs to fall 30 runs short of their target. Opening batter Suresh Lokeshwar top-scored with 55 runs from 37 balls and shared handy partnerships with captain Hari Nishaanth and number three Jagatheesan Kousik.

Sandeep Warrier and senior pro Ravichandran Ashwin hogged the limelight for the Dindigul Dragons by picking up two wickets each in the run-chase. Suboth Bhati, Varun Chakravarthy, and P Vignesh also bagged a wicket each to complement Warrier and Ashwin’s match-winning spells in a high-stakes game.
