The 19th match of the 2024 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) was contested between the Lyca Kovai Kings and the Dindigul Dragons on Sunday, July 21. The Dragons emerged triumphant as they beat the Kings by five wickets.

Meanwhile, the Salem Spartans were blown away by IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, with the latter winning the game by 51 runs in the 20th encounter of the tournament.

The Dragons won the toss and elected to field first against the Lyca Kovai Kings at the Indian Cement Company Ground. Batting first, Lyca Kovai Kings' Sai Sudharsan (33) and skipper Shahrukh Khan (51) top-scored for their team, helping them reach 172/5 in 20 overs. Varun Chakravarthy scalped two wickets for the Dragons. Baba Indrajith’s scintillating batting display (96 off 49) meant the Dragons chased down the target in 19.2 overs with five wickets to spare.

Meanwhile, the second game of the day saw the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans pile up a first-inning total of 192/9 in 20 overs, thanks to contributions from openers Amith Sathvik (50 off 39) and Tushar Raheja (79 off 49). In reply, the Spartans were restricted to a paltry 141/8, with the Tamizhans winning this fixture by a colossal margin of 51 runs.

IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans opener Tushar Raheja tops the highest run-getters chart of the 2024 Tamil Nadu Premier League. Raheja has scored 215 runs in just five innings at an average of 43.

Baba Indrajith of the Dindigul Dragons is in the second spot with 211 runs in five innings, while R. Sanjay Yadav, with his tally of 209 runs in five matches, occupies the third spot.

Three batters are in the 160s this season, namely B Sachin, Arun Karthik, and R Kavin. They occupy the fourth, fifth, and sixth places with 169, 164, and 160 runs to their name, respectively. With 159 runs each in five innings, Narayan Jagadeesan and Waseem Ahmed are in the seventh and eighth positions, respectively.

Chepauk Super Gillies batter Baba Aparajith and Salem Spartans batter K Vishal Vaidhya round off the top 10 list with 143 and 128 runs, respectively, in the ninth and tenth positions.

M. Poiyamozhi of the Salem Spartans remains at the top of the 2024 Tamil Nadu Premier League’s highest wicket-takers’s leaderboard with 12 scalps in six innings. Lyca Kovai Kings' skipper Shahrukh Khan is second on the list with 10 wickets in five matches. P. Saravana Kumar is third on the highest wicket-takers chart with nine wickets to his name.

S. Mohamed Ali and V. Athisayaraj Davidson have taken eight wickets each so far this season. They occupy the fourth and fifth positions, having played five matches each this season. M. Mohamed of the Lyca Kovai Kings, with his tally of eight wickets, is in sixth place, while there are four other bowlers in the top 10 who have snared seven wickets this campaign.

K Easwaran, Murugan Ashwin, S Ajith Ram, and Ganeshan Periyaswamy have all taken seven wickets and occupy the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth places on the leaderboard, respectively.
