Matthews stars as Fire beat Brave in a low-scoring encounter

The decision to bat first proved costly to the Southern Brave Women. They could only put up a total of 84 runs before they were bowled out in 91 deliveries at the Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, against Welsh Fire. The first inning saw no real batting contributions. Hayley Matthews (3/16), Freya Davis (2/12), and Jess Jonassen (2/14) of the Welsh Fire wreaked havoc through the Brave batting lineup.

Skipper Tammy Beaumont (34 off 36) and Sarah Bryce (20* off 27) led the charge to ensure that Fire crossed the finish line with no turbulence. They won the game by seven wickets and 10 deliveries to spare.

Southern Brave bowlers Lauren Cheatle (2/8) and Tilly Corteen-Coleman (1/21) helped their side derail the opposition but in vain.
