It was another double-header day in the Women’s Hundred 2024 on Saturday (August 3). The Birmingham Phoenix Women squared off against the Southern Brave Women in the 13th match. The 14th match saw the Trent Rockets Women face the Welsh Fire Women.

A solid all-round display saw the Birmingham Phoenix Women beat the Southern Brave Women at Edgbaston in Birmingham. In the 14th match, the Welsh Fire Women beat the Trent Rockets Women which was held at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

With the win, the Welsh Fire Women have jumped to the top of the points table. They have taken their points tally to six. The London Spirit Women have four points to their name and are placed below the Fire Women with a net run rate of +0.305.

The Manchester Originals Women also have four points under their belt. They sit at the third position with a net run rate of -0.027. The Oval Invincibles Women follow the Originals Women with four points and a net run rate of -0.353.

The Birmingham Phoenix Women grabbed their second win of the Women’s Hundred 2024. They now have four points under their belt and have moved to the fifth position after having a net run rate of -0.575. The Northern Superchargers Women follow Phoenix with three points.

The Trent Rockets Women failed to add to their two points. They are placed seventh in the points table. Below them are placed the Southern Brave Women, who suffered their third loss of the Women’s Hundred 2024. They are reeling at the bottom of the points table with one point.

Sarah Bryce helps Welsh Fire Women go to the top of the table of the Women’s Hundred 2024

The 14th match of the Women’s Hundred 2024 saw the Trent Rockets Women bat first against the Welsh Fire Women. After a shaky start, the middle-order batters stepped up and contributed. Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt top-scored with 37 as the Rockets Women posted 130 on the board.

It was a collective effort from the Welsh Fire bowlers. Freya Davies, Beth Langston and Georgia Davis picked up a wicket each whereas Jess Jonassen grabbed two.

In reply, the Welsh side lost both their openers early in the innings. Sarah Bryce at four held the innings nicely and kept fighting till the end. She played a match-winning knock of 51* to take her side across the line with two balls to spare.

The Trent Rockets Women picked up four wickets in total. Nat Sciver-Brunt scalped two but it wasn’t enough as they failed to defend the total. With this win, the Welsh Fire Women have moved to the top spot in the points table of the Women’s Hundred 2024.

In the 13th match, the Birmingham Phoenix Women were inserted to bat by the Southern Brave Women. Wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones held the innings nicely for the Phoenix Women and scored 51 off 36 balls to help her side get to 137/7 at the end of their 100 balls.

Emily Arlott (22 off 12 balls) also played a handy cameo at the back end of the innings. For the Southern Brave Women, Tilly Corteen-Coleman picked up two wickets, giving away 22 runs in her 20 balls.

In reply, the Brave Women got off to a disastrous start as Ellyse Perry reduced them to 21/3. Danielle Wyatt played a wonderful knock and scored 43 off 33 balls. Her dismissal proved to be the turning point in the game.

The Brave Women kept losing wickets at regular intervals and got knocked over on 121 in 97 balls to fall short by 16 runs. Skipper Perry and Charis Pavely grabbed three scalps each for the Phoenix Women to help defend the total successfully.
