It was a double-header day in the Women’s Hundred 2024. The Southern Brave Women locked horns against the Welsh Fire Women in the 30th match. In the 31st match, the Trent Rockets Women faced the Oval Invincibles Women.

The Welsh Fire Women walked past the Southern Brave Women unscathed at The Rose Bowl in Southampton. In the evening game at Trent Bridge, the Oval Invincibles Women beat the Trent Rockets Women.

The Welsh Fire Women have 11 points in eight games and finish the league stage at the top of the points table with a net run rate of +0.334. The Oval Invincibles Women sit below them with 11 points and a net run rate of +0.034. They grabbed two crucial points on Wednesday (August 14) to qualify for the playoffs.

The London Spirit Women have slipped to the third spot. They have nine points in eight games and it is enough to qualify for the playoffs of the Women’s Hundred 2024. As a result, we have got the teams that will play the knockouts.

The Northern Superchargers are placed fourth in the points table with eight points in as many fixtures and have a net run rate of +0.942. The Trent Rockets Women suffered a loss and got eliminated from the competition. They are fifth in the points table with a net run rate of +0.407

The Manchester Originals Women and Birmingham Phoenix Women have six points each. The Originals Women are sitting sixth in the points table with a net run rate of -0.398 as opposed to -0.742 of the Phoenix Women. The Southern Brave Women are placed at the bottom of the points table with three points in eight games.

Welsh Fire and Oval Invincibles book a place in the playoffs of the Women’s Hundred 2024

The Southern Brave Women were asked to bat first in the 30th match of the Women’s Hundred 2024. They had a horrible start as a collapse meant that they were reeling at 47/7 in the 12th set. Chloe Tryon led the charge with the bat for the hosts.

Tryon’s 38-ball 55 helped them get to a respectable total of 103 before getting knocked over on the final ball of the innings. Hayley Matthews picked up four wickets for the Welsh Fire Women. Jess Jonassen also grabbed three scalps.

In reply, the Fire Women lost Sophia Dunkley cheaply on seven. Hayley Matthews joined her skipper Tammy Beaumont at the crease and made sure that the Southern Brave Women didn’t get back in the contest.

Beaumont and Matthews remained unbeaten on 59 and 35 respectively as the Welsh Fire Women chased down the total in just 74 balls with nine wickets in hand. With this, the Welsh Fire Women qualified for the playoffs of the Women’s Hundred 2024.

In the 31st match, the Oval Invincibles Women opted to bowl first. They got off to a wonderful start as their new-ball bowlers bowled beautifully and didn’t allow the Trent Rockets Women to get away.

Only Natasha Wraith (14) and Ashleigh Gardner (43) got to double digits as regular wickets meant that the Trent Rockets Women finished their innings on 91/8. Marizanne Kapp grabbed three wickets for the Invincibles while Rachel Slater and Sophia Smale also chipped in with a couple each.

Chasing 92, the Invincibles batters made sure that they stayed ahead of the required run rate. Marizanne Kapp (26*) and Paige Scholfield (26) put a solid stand for the fourth wicket which helped them get across the line with six balls to spare.

The Rockets Women tried hard and picked up five wickets in total but it wasn’t enough as they failed to defend the total. With this five-wicket win, the Oval Invincibles Women secured a place in the playoffs of the Women’s Hundred 2024.
