It was a double-header day in the Women’s Hundred 2024 on Thursday, August 1. The 10th match saw the London Spirit Women take on the Welsh Fire Women at the Lord’s in London. The Southern Brave Women locked horns against the Manchester Originals Women in the 11th match.

The Welsh Fire Women defeated the London Spirit Women at the home of cricket. The Spirit Women suffered their first loss of the Women’s Hundred 2024. In the evening game, the Manchester Originals Women beat the Southern Brave Women at The Rose Bowl in Southampton.

The Oval Invincibles Women continue to top the table with four points and a net run rate of +1.603. The London Spirit Women are placed second with four points to their name and a net run rate of +0.305.

The Welsh Fire Women have jumped to the third spot after taking their points tally to four. They have a net run rate of -0.017. The Manchester Originals Women follow the Fire Women with a net run rate of -0.027 after having four points under their belt.

The Trent Rockets Women have slipped to the fifth spot after managing to have only two points in three games. They have a net run rate of +0.267 and sit above the Birmingham Phoenix Women who have a net run rate of -1.033.

The Southern Brave Women suffered their second loss of the Women’s Hundred 2024. They are placed seventh with one point and a net run rate of -0.211. The Northern Superchargers Women are reeling at the bottom of the points table with one point and a net run rate of -0.500 under their belt.

Defending champions Southern Brave Women remain winless in the Women’s Hundred 2024

The Southern Brave Women were inserted to bat by the Manchester Originals Women in the 11th match. On the back of a fantastic 61 from Danielle Wyatt at the top of the order, the Brave Women posted 136 on the board. Wyatt received very good support from Charli Knott (27).

The Manchester Originals Women picked up five wickets. Sophie Ecclestone led from the front for the Originals and grabbed two scalps, giving away only 17 runs in her 20 balls.

Laura Wolvaardt opened the batting for the Originals and played an outstanding knock. She stitched a brilliant partnership with Evelyn Jones (39) for the second wicket which kept the Brave Women at bay.

The game went down the wire. Wolvaardt remained unbeaten on 78 off just 52 balls to take the Originals Women across the line with six wickets in hand with two balls to spare. The win for the Originals Women meant that the Brave Women remained winless in the Women’s Hundred 2024.

In the 10th match of the Women’s Hundred 2024, the London Spirit Women were asked to bat first. On the back of contributions from Meg Lanning (31), Danielle Gibson (41), and Deepti Sharma (39*), the Spirit Women posted 150 on the board.

The Welsh Fire Women picked up five wickets in total. Freya Davies bowled beautifully for them and registered figures of 2/19 in her 20 balls out of which 10 were dots.

In reply, Hayley Matthews at number led the charge. She played an outstanding knock for the Fire Women. She hit 11 fours and two maximums to score 78* off 46 balls to take her side across the line in 95 balls with six wickets in hand.

Gibson grabbed two scalps for London Spirit Women but it wasn’t enough as they failed to contain runs. As a result, the Spirit Women failed to defend the total and suffered their first loss of the Women’s Hundred 2024.
