Southern Brave Women clashed horns against London Spirit on the second day of The Hundred Women’s 2024 League at the Rose Bowl stadium on July 24. London Spirit won the match by six wickets with three balls remaining in the game.

Oval Invincibles remain at the top position after their win yesterday against Birmingham Phoenix and have an NRR of 2.250. London Spirit secured the second position with a NRR of 0.337 after their win. Meanwhile, Southern Brave are in the third position with a negative NRR of -0.337.

Birmingham Phoenix take the fourth position after their first loss in the inaugural match against Oval Invincibles and hold an NRR of -2.250.

Heather Knights power London Spirit to a comfortable victory

London Spirit Women won the toss and chose to field first. Southern Brave took up the challenge and got to a total of 151/6. Danni Wyatt and Maia Bouchier stood firmly until a mix-up occurred between the runs and Maia Bouchier had to go after her fabulous knock of 35 from 21 balls. Both added a 57-run first-wicket partnership to the board. Danni Wyatt played a 35-ball 59 knock witnessing 11 boundaries and a six.

Contributions came in from Georgia Adams (21 off 14) and Chloe Tryon (20 off 13). In reply, Erin Burns picked up two wickets, with a wicket piece each distributed among Eva Grey, Sophie Munro, and Danielle Gibson.

On the other hand, the captain Heather Knight stood tall with her 31-ball 65 runs innings, smashing nine fours and a six. Her 49-run partnership with Georgia Redmayne (45 off 31) steadied the game for the Spirits and eventually ended in a winning cause. The Southern Brave Women were left clueless with the brutal batting approach from the London Spirit Women’s. They picked up only four wickets, with two of them ending as run-outs.

Southern Brave will face the Northern Superchargers in the next game, while London Spirit will face Birmingham Phoenix.
