The 21st match of the Women’s Hundred 2024 was played between the Welsh Fire Women and the Northern Superchargers Women. The Oval Invincibles Women squared off against the Southern Brave Women in the 22nd match.

The rain played spoilsport in the first match of the double-header Thursday (August 8) as the fixture between the Fire Women and the Superchargers Women at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff was abandoned.

In a thrilling rain-curtailed fixture, the Southern Brave Women beat the Oval Invincibles Women by seven wickets to stay alive in the Women’s Hundred 2024.

The abandoned game meant that the Welsh Fire Women retained their position at the top of the points table with nine points. The Northern Superchargers Women have taken their points tally to eight and are second behind the Fire Women.

The Oval Invincibles Women failed to add to their tally of seven points and are placed third in the points table. The London Spirit Women trail the Invincibles Women with five points under their belt.

The Trent Rockets Women have four points to their name and occupy the fifth position with a net run rate of +0.434. Below them sit the Manchester Originals Women with four points and a net run rate of -0.593.

The Birmingham Phoenix also have four points to their name. They have a net run rate of -1.070 and are seventh in the points table. The Southern Brave Women registered their first win of the Women’s Hundred 2024 and are placed at the bottom of the points table with three points.

The Sophia Gardens in Cardiff was all set to host the 21st match of the Women’s Hundred 2024 between Welsh Fire Women and the Northern Superchargers Women. The match officials waited for an hour and held an inspection, but relentless rain meant that they had to call off the match.

Both sides shared a point each as the rain played a spoilsport in the top of the table clash of the Women’s Hundred 2024.

In the 22nd match, the Southern Brave Women opted to bowl first. The rain arrived in the middle of the innings and the game was reduced to 65-balls per side. On the back of an unbeaten 26 from Marizanne Kapp, the Oval Invincibles Women posted 79 on the board.

The Brave Women picked up four wickets in total. Lauren Cheatle and Tilly Corteen-Coleman grabbed two scalps apiece.

The revised target for the Brave Women was 83. Danielle Wyatt opened the batting for the defending champions and used all her experience to take the game deep. She received good support from Chloe Tryon, who stayed till the end on 9*.

Wyatt kept her cool and hit a maximum off the penultimate ball of the match to take her side home. She remained unbeaten on 46 off 37 balls as the Brave Women won the game by seven wickets. With this, they manage to keep their hopes of defending their title alive.
