Headingley, Leeds saw the Trent Rockets Women defeat the Northern Superchargers Women by 20 runs in the fourth game of the 2024 Women’s Hundred on Friday, July 26.

The Oval Invincibles continue to top the 2024 Hundreds Women standings with two points and a net run rate of +2.250. Trent Rockets Women, after their first win of the season over the Northern Superchargers, are second with two points and a net run rate of +0.841.

Welsh Fire Women and London Spirit Women defeated the Manchester Originals Women and the Southern Brave Women in their respective first matches respectively. They occupy the third and fourth spots on the points table with two points each and net run rates of +0.444 and +0.337, respectively.

The lower half of the table, i.e., the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth-spot teams, have all lost their first games and have zero points to show. Southern Brave Women (5th), Manchester Originals Women (6th), Northern Superchargers Women (7th), and Birmingham Phoenix Women complete the points table. They have net run rates of -0.337, -0.444, -0.841, and -2.250. Their net run rates are a mere reflection of the teams above them.


Rockets Women bowl out the Superchargers Women to win their encounter by 20 runs

Trent Rockets saw good top-order contributions from Bryony Smith (23), Grace Scrivens (32) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (36*). They put up a total of 123/5 in the 100 deliveries against Northern Superchargers Women. Smith, Scrivens, and Sciver-Brunt shared 13 boundaries between them. The Superchargers women bowlers Linsey Smith and Annabel Sutherland scalped two and three wickets, respectively.

In reply, the Superchargers women’s batting never got going. They were dismissed for a paltry 103 in just 97 balls, falling 20 runs short of their desired target. Lucy Hingham top scored for the Superchargers with a 22-ball 26. The likes of Nat Sciver-Brunt (2/19), Alana King (2/17), and Heather Gram (3/13) helped the Rockets win this encounter.

With this win, the Trent Rockets women opened their account as far as the points table is concerned. They are in second place after the completion of four games this season.
