Lauren Bell enforces Women’s Hundred first-ever tie with four-fer
Opting to bat first, Southern Brave openers Maia Bouchier and Danni Wyatt raced to 26 runs from just 16 balls. However, both fell prey to Linsey Smith (2/24) in quick succession. Kate Cross, Georgia Wareham, and Annabel Sutherland also picked up a wicket each in their 20-ball spells as Southern Brave slipped to 59/6 in 64 balls.
Chloe Tryon at number six punched out 25 from 24 balls. Rhianna Southby then packed an unbeaten 16 to take Southern Brave to 100/8 by the completion of their innings.
Chasing just over run-a-ball, Northern Superchargers also lost both openers early in the innings. Southern Brave fast bowler Lauren Bell dismissed both Hollie Armitage and Marie Kelly in the space of just seven deliveries before knocking out a well-set Annabel Sutherland at 47/3. Phoebe Litchfield and Alice Davidson-Richards counterattacked for the Superchargers with identical 20s. However, Bell knocked over the latter in the decisive moment to bag figures of 4/11.
Lauren Bell’s scintillating four-fer eventually restricted the Northern Superchargers to 100/7. The match resulted in a first-ever tie in The Hundred Women’s competition.
