The Hundred Women's 2024 Points Table: Updated standings after Northern Superchargers vs Manchester Originals, Match 16

The London Spirit Women faced the Oval Invincibles Women in the 15th match of the Women’s Hundred 2024. In the 16th match, the Northern Superchargers Women locked horns against the Manchester Originals Women.

The home of cricket i.e. Lord’s Cricket Ground hosted a thriller of a contest between the Spirit Women and the Invincibles Women which ended in a tie. It was the second tied game of this edition. At Headingley in Leeds, the Superchargers Women defeated the Originals Women convincingly.

The Welsh Fire Women continue to top the points table with six points in four games. The Northern Superchargers Women have jumped to the second spot after their win at Headingley. They have five points under their belt and have a net run rate of +1.350.

The London Spirit Women and the Oval Invincibles Women have five points each and are separated by the Net Run Rate. The Spirit Women are placed third with a net run rate of +0.230 whereas the Invincibles are placed fourth with a net run rate of -0.265.

The Birmingham Phoenix Women and Manchester Originals Women follow the Invincibles Women with a net run rate of -0.575 and -0.599 respectively. Both have four points each. The Trent Rockets Women are placed seventh in the points table with two points in four fixtures.

The Southern Brave Women, the defending champions, are languishing at the bottom of the points table. They have only one point under their belt in four games and are placed at the last position.

The London derby of Women’s Hundred 2024 ends in a tie

The London Spirit Women were asked to bat first at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. Their batters faltered against the strong Oval Invincibles attack. Deepti Sharma played a fighting knock of 44 to take the London Spirit Women to 113/9.

Marizanne Kapp of the Oval Invincibles bowled a sensational spell. She blew away the Spirit top order and registered figures of 4/11 in her four sets. Sophia Smale and Ryana Macdonald Gay also chipped in with two scalps each.

In reply, the Invincibles Women kept losing wickets at regular intervals but Alice Capsey (27) and Marizanne Kapp (47) held the innings nicely. Kapp was going nicely but the Spirit Women refused to give up and kept fighting till the end.

The game went down the wire. The Invincibles Women required 4 runs from the last set. Danielle Gibson bowled beautifully for the Spirit Women. With two required from one, Ryana got run out after completing one run and the game ended in a tie.

Deepti Sharma shone with the ball for the Spirit Women. She picked up three wickets and gave away only 18 runs in her 20 balls. The game ended in a tie and there was nothing to separate between the two sides after the end of 200 balls.

The Manchester Originals Women opted to bowl first on winning the toss in the 16th match of the Women’s Hundred 2024. On the back of 43 from Phoebe Litchfield and 44 from Annabel Sutherland, the Northern Superchargers Women posted 138 on the board.

The Originals Women picked up four wickets in total. Lauren Filer picked up two whereas Kim Garth and Alice Monaghan grabbed one each.

Defending 139, the Superchargers Women bowled beautifully. They kept the Originals Women under constant pressure and kept picking wickets regularly. Lauren Filer at number 11 top-scored for the Originals Women as it was a sorry-looking scorecard for them.

The Originals Women got bundled out on 92 in the last set to lose the game by 46 runs. Kate Cross picked up four wickets and dented the Originals’ progress as the Northern Superchargers Women defended the total successfully and grabbed two points.
