Nat Sciver-Brunt’s 56* goes in vain as Originals claim a thrilling win

Manchester Originals Women charted 137/6 from 100 balls despite losing opener Laura Wolvaardt earlier in the innings. No. 3 batter Emma Lamb also walked back to the sheds without making any impact as she was cleaned up by Heather Graham at 45/2.

Kathryn Bryce and Eve Jones punched back for the Originals with identical 30s in the middle overs while captain Sophie Ecclestone added a five-ball 13 from her end.

For the Rockets, fast bowler Heather Graham picked up figures of 2/31 and spinners Ashleigh Gardner and Kirstie Gordon also seized a wicket each in their 20-ball spells.

In response, the Rockets lost each of its top three batters to Lauren Filer (2/26) and Sophie Ecclestone (1/19) by the time of reaching 47 in 39 balls.

Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt counterattacked for the Rockets by forming an 86-run partnership with Ashleigh Gardner, who fell at the brink of the finishing line to Kathryn Bryce.

Brunt herself packed 56 unbeaten runs off 46 balls, but her explosive resistance came up a run short against Manchester Originals in a last-ball thriller.
