Georgia Redmayne and Charlie Dean star in London Spirit’s win at the home of cricket

The Manchester Originals Women were inserted to bat by the London Spirit Women in the 23rd match of the Women’s Hundred 2024 at Lord’s. Beth Mooney (20) and Emma Lamb (28) looked good at the crease for them. Kathryn Bryce’s 27-ball 32 helped them get to 112 at the end of their innings.

The London Spirit Women kept picking wickets at regular intervals and didn’t allow the Originals Women to get away. Charlie Dean registered figures of 3/20 for the host, while Sarah Glenn also chipped in with a couple of scalps.

Chasing 113, the Spirit Women lost Meg Lanning (4) and Cordelia Griffith (9) cheaply but Georgia Redmayne along with Heather Knight kept the Originals Women at bay. Both led the recovery work and put a brilliant partnership for the third wicket.

The Originals Women failed to create further inroads as the pair of Redmayne and Knight took the Spirit Women home. Redmayne played a match-winning knock of 66* and received good support from her skipper Knight who remained unbeaten on 29.

Lauren Filer and Alice Monaghan picked up a wicket each for the Originals Women but they failed to defend the total as the Spirit Women got across the line with eight balls to spare. With this eight-wicket win, the Spirit Women got back to winning ways in the Women’s Hundred 2024.
