The Birmingham Phoenix Women locked horns with the Trent Rockets Women in the 28th Women’s Hundred 2024 match. The Edgbaston in Birmingham hosted the contest.

It was a must-win encounter for both sides. In a thriller of a contest, the Rockets Women held their nerves and emerged victorious by three wickets to stay alive in the competition. The Phoenix Women, meanwhile, were knocked out of the Wpmen's Hundred 2024.

But there wasn't any movement at the top of the points table. The Welsh Fire Women are the table-toppers after grabbing nine points in seven games at a net run rate of +0.086. The Oval Invincibles Women also have nine points and are placed second with a net run rate of -0.016.

The Northern Superchargers Women have eight points in seven games and follow the Invincibles Women. The Trent Rockets Women have moved to the fourth spot after taking their points tally to eight. They have a net run rate of +0.526.

The London Spirit Women have slipped to the fifth position. They have seven points and a net run rate of -0.088. The Manchester Originals sit below the Spirit Women with six points and a net run rate of -0.398.

The Birmingham Phoenix Women suffered their fourth loss and were eliminated from the Women’s Hundred 2024. They are placed seventh in the points table with a net run rate of -0.742 after failing to add more to their points tally of six.

The Southern Brave Women are languishing at the bottom of the points table. They have managed to grab only three points in seven fixtures and are placed at the last position.

Trent Rockets knock Birmingham Phoenix out of the Women’s Hundred 2024

Opting for bat first in the 28th match of the Women’s Hundred 2024, the Birmingham Phoenix Women lost skipper Ellyse Perry (5), Fran Wilson (2), and Amy Jones (0) inside the powerplay. Sterre Kalis was joined by Richa Ghosh and the two started rebuilding the innings.

Kalis (47) and Richa (41) stitched together a 95-run partnership for the fourth wicket and helped the Rockets Women post 112. It was an outstanding recovery as they were reeling at 9/3 after three sets.

The Rockets Women picked up six wickets in total. Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt and Ashleigh Gardner took two wickets each. Alexa Stonehouse bowled an economical spell and registered figures of 1/14 in her 15 balls.

In reply, the Trent Rockets Women lost two wickets in the powerplay before Grace Scrivens and Nat Sciver-Brunt led the recovery work. Scrivens fell on 19 but Sciver-Brunt (34) held the innings nicely and took the game deep along with Ashleigh Gardner (20).

A flurry of wickets helped the Phoenix Women get back in the game, which went down the wire. Katie George (7*) and Josie Groves (7*) held their nerves to take the Rockets Women across the line with three balls to spare.

The Phoenix Women tried hard but failed to close the game out and lost by three wickets. Charis Pavely and Emliy Arlott bowled brilliantly for the hosts and grabbed two scalps each but it wasn’t enough.
