Northern Superchargers and Oval Invincibles grab wins in the Women’s Hundred 2024

The Manchester Originals Women won the toss and elected to bat first in the 18th match of The Hundred Women's 2024. Laura Wolvaardt’s 38 and skipper Sophie Ecclestone’s cameo of 15-ball 26* helped them get to 125 at the end of their 100 balls.

The Oval Invincibles Women did a very good job with the ball in hand to contain runs. They picked up four wickets in total, with Amanda-Jade Wellington finishing with two.

In reply, Chamari Athapaththu (33) and Lauren-Winfield Hill (20) gave them a solid start. Paige Scholfield (48* off 27 balls) then played a fantastic knock to take the Invincibles Women across the line in 93 balls with seven wickets in hand.

Alice Monaghan picked up two wickets for the Originals Women but it wasn’t enough as they failed to defend the total. With this win, the Invincibles Women grabbed two crucial points and got back to winning ways.

In the 19th match, the Northern Superchargers Women opted to bat first. On the back of contributions from Annabel Sutherland (30) and Alice Davidson Richards (49*), they posted 115 on the board. Birmingham Phoenix Women bowled well throughout the innings. Skipper Ellyse Perry and Emily Arlott grabbed two wickets apiece.

What followed was a disappointing performance from the Phoenix’s batters. Only Sophie Devine (20) and Seren Smale (16) managed to get to double digits. They got bundled out on a paltry total of 54 in 86 balls to lose the game by 61 runs.

Each of the five Superchargers’ bowlers picked up at least a wicket. Linsey Smith and Georgia Wareham spun a web around the Phoenix’s batters and picked up three wickets each which helped them defend the total successfully.
