Northern Superchargers and Welsh Fire met in the 21st game of the Hundred Men’s 2024 at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave locked horns in the following game at the Kennington Oval in London.

Oval Invincibles ascended from second position to first after a six-wicket win against Southern Brave. They have won five out of six games so far and boast a net run rate of 0.778. On the other hand, Southern Brave slipped to second after suffering their second loss in the last game. They have four wins and a healthy NRR of 0.679.

Northern Superchargers jumped from fifth to third as their previous match against Welsh Fire was abandoned in the early stage of the second innings. They have seven points in their account along with a negative NRR of -0.917.

Trent Rockets and Birmingham Phoenix dropped from third and fourth spots to fourth and fifth positions with six points each. Meanwhile, London Spirit and Manchester Originals retained their bottom two positions, respectively.


Oval Invincibles top table with 6-wicket win; First match ends in No Result

Northern Superchargers posted a mere 27-run target in a match reduced to 25 balls per side and a six-ball powerplay. Ollie Robinson scored eight runs followed by captain Harry Brook (7), and wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran four run-a-ball. Matt Henry and Haris Rauf led the Welsh Fire bowling attack, taking two wickets each while David Willey took one.

In reply, the second innings was halted after the second delivery due to rain interruption. Eventually, the game was called off, ending with no result and giving a point each to both teams.

In the following game, Southern Brave had set a 119-run target for the loss of eight wickets. Skipper James Vince top-scored 52 off 39 balls followed by Keiron Pollard's 18 off 15. Tom Curran was the pick of the Oval bowlers with a four-fer while Sam Curran took two, and Will Jacks and Adam Zampa claimed one each.

In reply, the Invincibles chased the target in 85 balls with six wickets in hand. Jordan Cox (45) and Sam Curran (35) were the major run-getters while the rest made handy contributions.
