Invincibles and Superchargers bag two points on offer

Defending champions Oval Invincibles made 147/5 after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Opener Dawid Malan cracked 38 runs at the top while Sam Curran blasted 51 unbeaten runs from just 22 balls to fuel the Invincibles' innings at the death. For London Spirit, Olly Stone shattered Will Jacks’ timber and Matt Critchley claimed figures of 1/14 from 15 balls.

In pursuit of 148, London Spirit had their run-chase attempt squandered at 117 in 95 balls. Sam Curran, who racked up 51 runs for the Invincibles, picked up a five-wicket haul, including a hat-trick, in the space of just nine deliveries to secure astonishing figures of 5/16. Curran’s remarkable all-round brilliance was also assisted by ace spinner Adam Zampa (3/22).

In the second match of the day and the 16th of the competition, Northern Superchargers smacked a competitive total of 167/5 after being invited to bat first. Captain Harry Brook top-scored with 33-ball 58 to counter the two-wicket fury from Fazalhaq Farooqi (2/14) and Usama Mir (2/39).

Despite a 90-run opening stand between Phil Salt (40 off 27 balls) and half-centurion Matthew Hurst (78 from 45 balls), Manchester Originals fell 14 runs short of their target to extend their losing streak to four games.

Apart from the two openers, none of the remaining six batters at Manchester Originals managed to crack double-digit scores as 153/6 was all they could manage after the completion of their innings. Ben Dwarshuis (2/28) and Mitchell Santner (2/23) bowled effective spells for the Superchargers after the opening batters were run out.
