Northern Supercharges defeated London Spirit by 21 runs (DLS method) at Headingley in match number 29 of The Hundred Men’s 2024 season on Tuesday, August 13.

Following their dominant outing in Leeds, the Superchargers leaped past Southern Brave and Birmingham Phoenix to jump to the number two position on the points table. With 11 points from eight games, they only trail behind defending champions Oval Invincibles at the top of the eight-team standings.

Southern Brave and Birmingham Phoenix, with 10 points each, take the third and fourth slots respectively on the table. Trent Rockets are ranked fifth on the list with six points courtesy of three wins from seven matches. Welsh Fire lie at number six with two wins and four defeats and with a dismal NRR of -0.215

Despite falling to their fifth successive defeat this season, London Spirit gained a rung to take the seventh spot. Manchester Originals continues to languish at the bottom of the standings with a solitary win to their credit.


Adil Rashid stars with three wickets in rain-marred game

Batting first, London Spirit managed to conjure just 111/8 from 100 balls. Apart from a 12-ball 30 from opener Keaton Jennings, none of the other London Spirit top-order batters managed to get going as they slipped to 62/6 in 63 balls.

Reece Topley (2/25) and Matthew Potts (2/18) claimed key wickets with the new-ball for Northern Superchargers before Adil Rashid’s three-wicket burst brought down the ultimate hammer on Spirit middle-order.

Apart from Jennings, senior man Ravi Bopara made 31 from 29 balls and unbeaten Liam Dawson smacked 19-ball 27* to add some stability to Spirit’s faltering innings.

Chasing 112 against the threat of constant rain interruptions, Northern Superchargers raced to 64/1 from 44 balls before match officials called off play. Opener Graham Clark produced a 13-ball 26 and partner Matthew Short cracked an unbeaten 25 in the chase. With no action in sight, officials eventually declared Superchargers the rightful victors by 21 runs (DLS method).
